Copper Sulphate
- Copper Sulphate is an inorganic compound that combines sulphur with copper.
- It can kill bacteria, algae, roots, plants, snails and fungi.
- It is for this reason that many farmers use it in foot baths for sheep to prevent and treat foot rot.
- Copper sulphate is quicker to penetrate than zinc.
Features of Copper Sulphate:
- Kills bacteria and fungi.
- Excellent for prevention of foot rot in sheep.
- Treats foot rot in sheep.
Dilution Rate For Foot Bath:
- The dilution rate for both copper sulphate and zinc sulphate is 10pc.
- That means that for every 10 litres of solution in the footbath you should add 1kg of either copper or zinc sulphate.
- The advantage of using either copper or zinc sulphate is that these products can be reused over a period of time (provided that they are not excessively soiled or diluted by rainfall).
