Zinc Sulphate
- Zinc sulphate heptahydrate is a white crystalline powder
- Zinc sulphate can be used to help with sore feet in livestock.
- Zinc can penetrate the hoof where formalin cannot.
- Zinc has the advantages of contributing to the production of good quality hoof horn.
- Zinc sulphate will help maintain a healthy hoof structure.
- Can be reused and not painful.
- Zinc sulphate will not be deactivated by organic matter.
- Can be mixed with water and used in a footbath.
Features of Zinc Sulphate:
- Kills bacteria and fungi.
- Excellent for prevention of foot rot in sheep.
- Treats foot rot in sheep.
Dilution Rates For Footbath:
- Zinc Sulphate 10% – 1kg per 10 litres.
- Zinc Sulphate 6.5% – 650g per 10 litres.
- Add a few squirts of washing up liquid to improve horn penetration.
- The dilution rate for both copper sulphate and zinc sulphate is 10pc.
- That means that for every 10 litres of solution in the footbath you should add 1kg of either copper or zinc sulphate.
- The advantage of using either copper or zinc sulphate is that these products can be reused over a period of time (provided that they are not excessively soiled or diluted by rainfall).
